The paperwork is part of the job

Building access planning

Co-ops, condos and commercial buildings often set rules for contractors. We confirm elevator times, delivery windows and working hours before the job.

Contractor licensing

Licensing requirements differ by state and city. Ask about your location when you request an estimate and we will go over what applies to your project.

Written estimates

Every job starts with measurements and a written estimate that lists the rooms, the prep and the scope, so there are no surprises.

Permits where required

Some shower, plumbing and structural work needs a permit. We tell you when it applies and how it affects the schedule.

Older-home materials

Some old floor tile and adhesive can contain asbestos, and older paint can contain lead. We talk through testing before any removal begins.

Manufacturer instructions

We follow the tile, mortar, grout and membrane manufacturers' instructions. Many product warranties depend on it.

How we protect the space

Floors and paths

Floor protection and runners from the door to the work area, including elevators and hallways in apartment buildings.

Dust containment

Plastic barriers, covered vents, wet cutting and dust-extracting tools keep tile and concrete dust in the work area.

Fixtures and finishes

Toilets, vanities and appliances are removed or protected, and nearby cabinets and walls are covered.

Water and drains

Supply lines are capped and drains protected so mortar and debris never go down the plumbing.

Cure times respected

We do not grout, seal or return a shower to use before the products allow it.

Cleanup and debris

Old tile, mortar and offcuts leave with us, and the space is cleaned at the end of every day.

Licensing and safety questions

Are you licensed in my state?

Requirements depend on the state and city. Tell us where your project is when you request an estimate, and we will explain what applies to your job.

What should I send you about my building's requirements?

Send the contractor rules from your building or management company, including any certificate holder wording, with your estimate request.

Do you follow building quiet hours?

Yes. Demolition, cutting and deliveries are scheduled inside the hours your building allows.

How do you handle silica dust?

Cutting and grinding tile and concrete creates silica dust. We use wet cutting or tools with dust extraction and keep the work area contained.

What happens if something gets damaged?

Tell us right away. We walk every room with you at the end of the job so any problem is caught and addressed before we leave.

Ready to talk about your tile project?

Tell us where you are and what you have in mind. Free estimate, no obligation.
